Kirby Kids Updated Purpose, Philosophy, & Mission

Our Purpose

The Kirby Kids Christian Early Childhood Development Center is a ministry of New Life Westmoreland Community Church intended to support the families and children of the church and community.

Our purpose is to provide quality, developmentally appropriate learning through play, in an atmosphere of nurture and acceptance, with emphasis on Christian character, values, and ideals.

A prayerfully selected staff of trained, loving professionals are here to provide nurture, fun, and opportunity for student development and learning. It is our goal to assist families and facilitate student growth in the following ways:

Cognitively

By encouraging and displaying enthusiasm for learning and exploration.  By exposing students to good learning habits and techniques.  By providing new experiences and challenging opportunities for student involvement and success.

Physically

By providing individual movement exercises and group movement activities that will develop large muscle coordination and fine motor skills.

Spiritually

By exposing students to God's love and Biblical principles and values through daily sharing and prayer time, classroom activities and teaching, and loving relationships with teachers and staff.

Socially

By providing interaction with peers and adults through activities and conversations that develop student self-worth, confidence, and pleasant social behavior patterns.

Emotionally

By providing a safe, happy, inviting environment; by affirming each student's individual strengths and style of learning; by creating opportunity for success in challenging situations.

Our Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

We believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Timothy 3:16). We believe that the whole Bible in the originals is without error.

The Triune Godhead

We believe in the one true and living God, the Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer and Ruler of all things. He is infinite, eternal, unchangeable, and is revealed to us in three distinct persons of the same divine essence: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God, the Father

God, as Father, reigns over His entire universe with providential care. He is all-powerful, all-loving, all-knowing, and all-wise.

God, the Son

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man through his death and bodily resurrection.

God, the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Divine Person who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He alone gives new life to those who are spiritually dead. He indwells and seals believers, bestows spiritual gifts, and lives within every believer.  Every believer is called to live in the power of the indwelling Spirit.

Atonement for Sin

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice. His shed blood redeems all who believe and trust in Him.  We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord Jesus Christ and His ascension into heaven.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God's grace and is freely given to all who put their faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary. All who trust in the Savior are forgiven of their sins and born into the family of God by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.

Our Philosophy

We believe children learn best through play.  Our curriculum is designed to provide opportunity for play in diverse areas. We provide a Scriptural foundation in all areas of play-education.  We stimulate skill development in the areas of communication, problem solving, critical thinking, exploration, movement, music, and art creativity through play experiences designed to provide advancement in each of these areas.

We believe all truth is God's truth, there is nothing new that we learn which He has not known, for He is all knowing.  We look to His Spirit to be our teacher and credit Him with all knowledge.

We believe it is the parents' God-given privileged and responsibility to train their child spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and cognitively. Some of the responsibility in these areas can be shared with teachers and staff in a Christian school, but it is ultimately the parent's responsibility and privileged for their child's education.

We believe the school should be a natural extension of the home; therefore, desire willing communication and cooperation between the home and school.   A child should know they are loved and accepted in their school environment.

We believe Christian education should teach a child respect for life, as God has given it, and respect for others and self. We also strive to teach honesty, integrity; purity in thought, action and language; and a willing, submissive spirit to God.

Our Mission Statement

We desire to provide developmental education and a nurturing environment for the children with an emphasis on the development of Christian character, values, and ideas.

Our objectives are based on the Bible and modeled throughout the day by the materials we use as well as by the lives of the teachers and students.

The Kirby Kids Christian Early Childhood Development Center uses a combination of curriculum choices to meet our objectives and the individualized needs of our students.

* Faith in God and esteem for His creation

* Love for and appreciation of family and community

* Care for our environment and honor for our country
